Hi! My name is Katie Williamson.  I bought land in the Appalachian mountains of Flag Pond, Tennessee in 2024 after years of traveling, living abroad and soul searching about where to root down.  My dream is to have a homestead, retreat center and workshop space where people (including you!!) can come learn and share about all things related to health, homesteading, gardening, nutrition and herbalism.

The construction process, which began in 2024, has been complex - abundant with many learning opportunities!  I purchased raw land so getting power and water to the property was a feat!  It has made me so much more appreciative of going anywhere, opening the tap and having clean water flow right out!

The first primary structure on the land is a kitchen and apothecary space with a huge deck and beautiful view of our local mountains here in Appalachia. That´s where I need your help!

The intention for the space is to be a community gathering spot, not just a place for formal workshops but also a dining room for my neighbors and guests.  It will be a place for healing where local people and guests alike can eat and drink nourishing meals and assist with the transformation of food and herbs from the garden into ferments, tinctures and nourishing plates!

There are so many ways that modern people are living out of alignment with our biological design.  We tend to be so isolated, either living alone or in nuclear families instead of living with extended family.  Many of us long for more community.  We want to feel part of a tribe.  It is a hugely modern experience to have to feed yourself three times a day, every day for your whole life.  Real nourishment takes a lot of planning, thought and care.  The tremendous responsibility of daily nourishment was never meant to be carried by just one person or even just one family.  That is why the first of many regular activities I would like to host in the kitchen are weekly dinner parties.  I will cook and guests can contribute to cover food costs.  Together we can be deeply nourished through our food and through company.  My nutrition philosophy is highly influenced by the work of Dr. Weston A. Price so all meals will be prepared in the most nutrient-dense, delicious way possible using local and regional organic ingredients.

My life´s work has also led me down the path of educating others on the importance of preconception nutrition.  Just like we put down compost before sowing seeds in the garden, for most of human history, the bodies of future mother and father were nourished on purpose before conception in order to ensure healthy offspring and the future of the tribe!  Our health begins with the health of our parents before we are born!  We receive a hormonal and nutritional blueprint from both mom and dad.  Your contribution in finishing the kitchen space will impact so many lives so that I may continue this work of helping lineages thrive!

The plan is also to offer a variety of workshops on everything from bread-making to butchery to herbalism 101. The space will be a place where myself and many others can share their knowledge and gifts with the broader community. I hope that you can join us one day on the land!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of this project.

With love,

Katie

All donors will have their names included on a hand carved wooden plaque to be placed on the deck!  You will forever be part of this mountain dream!
