Paul's rampant cross posting on Backwoods Home Magazine forums brought me here.  Keep up the good work, Paul.

i'm an hacker, but in the real/good sens of the term, so no harm is caused by my scripts

I know what you mean about the real sense of the term hacker, and appreciate your work.  For those who don't know, hacker originally meant someone who was curious and could take things apart and modify them, not someone who breaks in and steals things.
Sweet, permaguy.  Many thanks.  It works great in Firefox 5.  Now I can follow 15-page threads without searching for where I left off.  Again, Sweet.  I'll have to see what other scripts are available for Grease Monkey.

I was leary of calling jquery.min.js from an unknown site, but it looked like a standard function on a legit site, so I took a chance.  It may be deleting the files from c:\ right now, but the New Posts buttons work properly.
Hmmm.  Doesn't look like a nutrient deficiency, as its affecting leaves of all ages.  I have not looked up these plants, but I would not think a disease would attack such a variety of plants.  That leaves something environmental: Any chemicals sprayed nearby, recently?  Sprinkled wood ashes? Acid rain in your area?  Spraying water on them on sunny days? (I've heard that the rain drops form little magnifying lenses and can burn leaves, but I've never seen it happen).

Super, Paul.  For now, the email notifications about new posts on threads where I have posted take me right to the new posts.  I'll just subscribe to threads which I am interested in, and keep current via email.

Sample email link:

In fact, I'll bet I could just append ".new;topicseen#new" to the url of whatever thread I'm looking at, and jump to the new posts.  I'm gonna try that, right now, on some 7 page thread
Gotcha, LW.  Yep, with your need to protect the plants from herbation, zone 1 sounds right.

LivingWind, tea doesn't sound like a zone 1 plant, to me.  Its not like you will step outside and gather some for a meal.  And it won't need the daily attention which zone 1 plants and animals would.  Tea will need to be processesed, so I would imagine harvesting only two or three times per year.

It sounds like a solid zone 2 plant to me, or even zone 3, with the unpruned and unmulched orchard.

>Does anyone have an idea what the pressure would be at the bottom of a 35-45 gallon barrel?

IIRC, water pressure is 1psi/~2 ft of head.  So a barrel of water would only have ~2psi at the bottom, when full. RO filters need 35-40 psi to operate, so you would need a 75-80' tall tank to supply the required pressure.  There are inexpensive RV water pumps which can supply this pressure.

>the only trouble you might have with a slow sand filter is that they work best with constant flow, which you may not have from rain water.

All I have read about slow-sand filters shows the raw water being stored and filtered as used.  This would guarantee a daily flow through the filter, as opposed to filtering all of your water as it was collected and then storing it.

>distilled water isn't neccesarilygood for you... If you drink it everyday for fun you will leach your body of minerals.

Is this a fact, that distilled or RO water will actually leach minerals from you body?  Or does it just not *provide* additional minerals?  I'd appreciate a reference Leah, as I like he purity of my RO filtered water.

Woohoo!  I thought tea was going to have to go in the greenhouse...

My comfrey arrived today.  The Richters catalog said Bocking 4 has the highest protein content.  But the tag on the pots says it also has the highest level of allantoin.  Yay for me.

The walking onions were also in the shipment.  I thought they were back ordered until fall.  So, double yay.

They'll go out by the fruit trees, this evening.
