Hello,

Here is a rocket powered cob oven that I'd built over the summer. The foundation is made from recycled concrete that I cut into blocks. We made pizza for the first time last night and it got to about 938 degrees in 40 minutes. Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think.

I think that is neat! Do you plan on doing a video?

That looks about the nicest rocket/oven combo I have seen. Where is the exhaust? I guess the front door would work pretty good for that and shouldn't smoke much with the rocket configuration. The less holes the better.

I was thinking though that the general design might work really well as an indoor heater as well as oven. I would imagine the outside gets warm to the touch, but not too hot to touch... just what a good heater does. Just add a flue in front of the door.

I wasn't planning on doing a video but I will if you would like to see it in action. I'll get some footage next time we fire it up.

Thank you for the compliment. The exhaust is on the opposite side of the rocket so I get a nice cross draft. I made the chimney removable so that it can be capped if need be.

It's a great idea but I don't think that it gets hot enough on the surface to double as a heater because it's insulated quite a bit. Of course if you wanted to use it as a heater just use less or no insulation, however that would make it a less efficient oven.

All the heat has to end up somewhere, But I think you are right... not the primary heat source.

Have you fired this for the video yet? Do you have pics of the build?

If you like strawberry rhubarb pie, try blueberry rhubarb (bluebarb) pie. And try this tiny ad:
