Anyone seen anything more about this? I know a couple of people have been doing work on the concept but haven't heard anything more for some time. Or does anyone have any opinions about it?

If it relies on vibrations, the noise probably depends on the tension, width, and length of the wire, just like in an instrument. I wouldn't give up on it yet. Also, hydro means water. aero means air, electro means electricity.
