Dog-proof urban permaculture

This jumped into my head while i was posting in the EM thread, but I've been ruminating on it for some time.

My situation is a fairly small front yard (40'x30' maybe) that from time to time is used for relieving and providing outside space for 3 or 4 big dogs and 3 dachshunds. While out there they tend to trample or dig up anything that I've attempted to cultivate out there. (I do have full use of the backyard, but i would like to make better use of what is currently a sacrifice area.)

So far the ideas that I've come up with are growing in containers or tall raised beds (Fertilized with EM-digested dog poo?) And covering the whole yard in chipped wood.
Also, planting some really durable things (Bamboo?) right in the soil.

The whole yard is also shaded on the south, east and west sides by well-established cedars, some of which the dogs have been beginning to tunnel under and destroy the roots of. These trees make it a generally shady location, and im pretty sure the cedars (Thuja) are allelopathic.

This strikes me as a particularly challenging area, but perhaps a good place to hone some design skills. Anyone have any ideas?

If I understand you, you want to grow or do something the dogs won't tear apart. We have to build or placed wood and chicken wire around trees and plants to keep out rabbits, chickmunk, wild horses and dog at valley 2. Chicken wire can be covered with earth to stop them from digging under fences and trees. In some places plastic leach line can be split to wrap around trees and tacked to things you don't want eaten. Does this sound like it will work at your place?

And Electric fences work very well! This if done right will stop anything! The yellow standoffs support electorode wire. It stop bear.

Do you think electric would stop alligator?
