Finally got around to salvaging the
wood from a wood shipping crate that I left laying on the ground since June - not recommended to wait that long, but life happens.
Anyway, the interesting thing (to me) was seeing what looks like veins growing through the wood as the initial states of rot - am I right that this is mycelium beginning to grow throughout the wood fibers as part of its decomposition? These are actually under the surface of the wood, not on the outside of it. Interesting patterns, if nothing else!
