Cold Weekend project - workbench for the shed

So, it was a cold and breezy weekend.  Wanted to be outside doing stuff, and out of the wind at the same time.  Lucky for me, I had a project in my back pocket just waiting for the right combination of weather and available time!  Also lucky for me, the shed door opens to the south, so I was out of the wind, and able to enjoy the warm sunshine while I worked.

I try to keep my flammables in the shed - gas, diesel, paint, and certain tools - chainsaw, peavy, generators, etc...  The existing shelves were full, and I just wasn't getting the best use out of the space.  A workbench with room to stow things underneath sounded like a good start.

I make no claims of carpentry expertise, but I had fun making it, and I don't think it will fall down.  I tried to use up some scrap 2x4's I had laying around, but did use new 2x6's for the top due to the required length.  

Here is the first step - installing the short and long wall supports.  

I used a high tech saw horse for making the cuts.  Making do with what I had to hand!  

Sure, I could have used dimensional lumber for the posts, but I just happened to have some hickory nearby - now that might be interesting!  Lets see if I can make that work...

Got the framing done next - seems to be coming together OK.

And, finally, with the hickory posts/legs in place, it was a pretty easy finish putting the top in place.  

All done!  Now that I have a workbench in the shed, I can start getting stuff done!
