Rocket Stove Foundry

I've built two cooking rocket stoves in remote primitive areas out of rock sealed with clay, sand and elk manure, but I've never built a rocket stove out of tin nor have I built a rocket stove mass heater.

So while, surfing for good instructions for a metal "portable" rocket stove to cook with, I happened across a quick blurb about some one using a rocket stove to melt metal.    ...something about stacking a second insulated flue chamber on top of the first one??? to obtain temperatures of 1200 F

Since I'm attempting to introduce rocket stove technology to e Farm, I'd really like to hear from anyone who has successfully used rocket stove technology to melt metals , not once by accident, but on purpose for melting and casting metal.

Anyone?

I went light as possible and took no electronics with me into the primitive area...

...so no pics.

I'd hesitate to post them if I had them... in  both cases, I had rocks explode on me due to the high heat  -even though I took care to select rocks on southern slopes, NOT in river/stream beds, and rocks  that only were stacked on another rock.

yes, I did replace the exploded rocks and used the stoves to cook on/boil water.

So, unless you're crazy enough to pull super heated rock shrapnel from your muscle tissue, I wouldn't recommend this to the permies.

Yep, I will build a metal "portable" cooking rocket stove for e Farm -I'll post the pics too, if you want (seems like everyone has done this type though).

It's just one of those things where it seems like for most stuff you find it on the internet, or in a book, the person just tells you what they want to tell you.  But here, if somebody posts, we can ask all sorts of questions.

So, it is different.
