If I wanted to add thermal mass to surround a wood stove, would cobblestones and field stone [large rocks from the ground] do the job? I assume that cobblestones or larger granite stones would take longer to gain heat, but they would hold the heat over a longer time than brick or cob surrounds.
Is there a table, site, that could help determine the heat storing potential in granite?
