Hello hivemind ,
This is ranjib from pleasant hill California, here to learn and practice permaculture. Been lurking around this forum for almost a year now, finally decided to join and  get involved. I am trying to exercise some permaculture principles in an 1/4 acre urban plot. Very beginner, just 1 year old home owner, still learning and absorbing
Thank you for all your valuable insights shared in this forum

Welcome Ranjib. I wouldn't call Pleasant Hill part of Silicon Valley. Do you work in tech in the valley? 1/4 acre suburban plot is a great start. I had a 1/10 acre in the East Bay that produced very well for me. Now I'm in rural Oregon with 80 acres struggling much harder.

Ranjib, welcome! We have some fantastic urban permaculturists here on Permies. If you haven't found it already, be sure to visit our Urban Forum. That would be a great place to share your beginnings, see what others are doing, and to ask questions.

Yes I work for a tech company , and recently moved from South Bay / Palo Alto.  I too think this is not exactly Silicon Valley. My local friends corrected me, saying east bay and South Bay are all part of the valley, particularly since most startups are now in sf and Oakland. And the proper South Bay is peninsula,.
Anyhow, glad I moved to east bay, life is little easier here. Son can go to public school. Still learning local customs and values. South Bay was a super life in a  bubble story,

Thank you for the kind words, I’ll post some pics shortly, still learning how to best design, make use of the available land. Have some lawn and other not so effective landscaping elements that I have to think through .
