I am wanting to start raising a calf each year for meat. I don't want to fence my entire property, so I have decided to use electric fencing. I would like to build some sort of pen and shelter where it could stay for several days in case I need to run out of town for a weekend and to be put up in at night.

Has anyone ever done this? Pictures? Advice?

Thanks!

We had a loafing shed something on the line of this picture:

I have also seen a set up using the ibc totes though a calf would outgrow those.

Cows are herd animals. Do you have other animals for company for it?

If it was only night use, I've seen people use old truck caps on top of pallets to make a quick shelter. I wouldn't say one of those would be good for an animal for multiple days of containment.
