I had dug up a 100 ft section of my lawn to run underground electric, This was the first or second week of october, All i did was put some top soil down in spots just to level it and I seeded the whole thing and covered in hay, I fenced in the area with snow fence and never watered it once, within two weeks You can barely tell it was dug up, grass came right up I used two different mixtures of grass.

I have in the past usually ended up having to try and plant int eh summer time and it takes for ever with a lot of seed and a lot of water. Figured Id post just to let anyone else who things it maybe to cold in Oct that it's not.

I ll try to snap a few shots, I took most of the snow fence down yesterday and mowed the grass, I left a small section up since it is right by my steps and it is a high traffic area figured I d give it some more time to take.

My grandmother was a firm believer of seeding the lawn once snow had come. She would go out and hand seed over the snow and always had the prettiest thick lawn in the neighborhood. She claimed that as the snow melted the seeds were drawn into the soil and took deeper root and was hardier. I have patch seeded in snow but never had the pretty lawn she did...
