Maybe one for Leah...

I have some lovely handmade soap (not made by me cos I don't know how to - yet) in rose a ylang ylang scent but it goes very soggy and squidgy once used.  Any ideas what makes it go like this?  I keep it well aired but it just stays mushy. Such a shame.

And yet my other favourite in vanilla and lavender stays good right til the last smidgeon.  And a lovely clear soap. How do they do that?

Leah, your goat's milk soap sounds just scrummy but no international shipping

I doubt it is anything you are doing. the fats and oils used to make the soap are the primary determining factor in how well it holds up under use. lots of 'soft' oils in the recipe often results in a bar of soap that turns to mush when in real world conditons. look for a soap with a high percentage of lard or coconut oil. although just about any fat can be used to make soap the ingredients and the ratios to each other make significant differences in the qualities of the soap.
