I got my first sewing machine!

We are not well off, by any means and any extra money we have goes toward our savings to buy our dream property (my dream property - hubby could live in a box and be happy).  Needless to say, we don't buy things like new appliances or even new clothes.  We get everything hand me down or thrift.  This satisfies our financial need and our values at the same time.  

I was so surprised when I woke up this winter solstice to a large package under our tree.  My husband and his family all got together and got me my very first sewing machine!  I used to sew when I was little (think preteen), but lost my sewing machine access and never got back to it.  

I'm super excited to begin again and already have lots of ideas on what to make!  I think I would like to start with something simple like a matching cape/cloak for me and my son.
