What are straightfirward metrhods of getting rid of fleas on small dogs?

A flea comb and dish soap work good if your dog will sit there.Put the fleas into the dish soap water and drown them.diatomaceous earth works good in my opinion after words.My friends have used citronella and eucalyptus oil diluted as well.
