howdy

well i guess this is where we introduce ourself.

well here goes --I an 64 years  young .

at one time many years ago ---i was 9 at the time ---we left the farm---i wish we never left ---that is were my heart is ---i loved it ---if i could only go back ---but know i am terminal on og 24-7

it is so nice to hear someone talk about the country --i really don't and never did like the city.

i still warsh out some of my cloths and put out to dry---i love it --it smells so good when taken it--the heavy things my daughter warshes for me.

when able i still like to bake bread  and things--i miss canning the vegtables.

now i am trying to weave a rag rug on a loom i made [with help] and i try to some quilting.

next year i will plan a garden with my daughters help.

i miss eating field corn right out of the field
i miss the smell of the hay at haying time--

i miss the smell of the barn

i miss fresh warm milk right from the cow

at my friends house there was no water in the house --we had to pump it and bring it in the house---and there was no inside bathroom

when warm out we would take a bath outside in one of the warsh tubes---when cold we put the warsh tub next to the wood stove to try to keep warm.--i call them the good old days,

and the school i went to had to floors -first grade to eighth upstairs ---high school downstairs, some kids road their horses to school --i did ride a school buss or if i missed it i had to walk to school --i remember it as being a long walk -i did not want to miss the buss---we had chores before school and after .

so many things i remember ---i could go on and on

welcome, i'm a few years younger than you..at 58...and know what you mean..although..we didn't have a bus and my walk to school every day was one mile.

i've never really ben on a true FARM but always kinda rural and always had a huge garden avail to me, and wilderness to wander in.

again welcome

it was just a very small farm that i lived at --and i loved it -

-you were one of the lucky ones to have some were to go and kind of run wild when you were younger---

when we moved to the city --that was all over for me ---i had nothing to do-

thank you for the welcome.

yeah i did spend 3 summers in the city in my teen years..2 in chicago and one in washingtondc..and enjoyed the museums and sites..and i spent my first adult year in a smaller city..Traverse City..but then got married and moved to the farm..8 acres with a farmhouse heated entirely with wood..we even had an outhouse..but we did have indoor plumbing so it seldom got used ..tee hee..why ?

the land we moved onto had a woods in the rear but the house was basically open with just a few flower gardens and an old over gardened worn out garden plot..a few dying trees including a pear and 3 apples..and that was about it..

the  house was 100 years old plus when we lost it to a lightening strike and we had to start over with a double wide farther back on the property..redoing all of our gardens and planting more trees (we did save a good deal of the trees we had put in)
