Building Designs?

I've been browsing through the different forums detailing construction methods and materials, but I can't find a forum that discusses the actual designs (I'm a still a noob to the site, so apologies if I missed the obvious).

For example, where can I find information and discussion on:

1 bed, 2 bed and 3 bed templates for temperate or tropical or dry regions?
Positioning strategies - Glasshouse sun-ward, shadehouse leeward, calculating size of eves to reduce summer heat and capture winter heat?
Positioning and size of vents to draw cool air in or cycle warm air.
Positioning of Rocket Heater
Large, flexible central social room with multiple uses vs smaller rooms
Utility rooms - Mud Room, Pantry, mini workshop

I guess I'm looking for a resource where I can see buildings designed using permaculture methodology and discuss them. Any ideas?

you need to narrow your criteria, or at least realize than good architecture is site,climate and culturally sensitive....built with local/sustainable materials...

but you can still dream:

start by searching for "tiny homes", and then also look at builditsolar.com for DIY energy approaches, also look for the movie "Garbage Warrior" on the web, about the earthship inventor...

Hi Jason,

I have to agree with Andor, there is so much on the Web and in print but you have to narrow your view to something more specific. I specialize in vernacular folk timber architecture of the Americas, Middle East and Asia. You really have a lot to choose from. If you learn to do foreign language advance searches with Google and Google Images, you scope will open up even more. There is just so much I couldn't tell you wher to begin.

I appreciate that good sustainability is based upon local resources, local environmental factors and the materials used (cob, earthship tires, straw bales, earth bags etc), but surely there is some discussion on the actual building design (with basic templates and designs that people can start from). For example, I can't imagine many scenarios and environments which would not benefit from orienting the house towards the sun (ie south in northern hemisphere) with a solar capture area (greenhouse) and eves to reduce summer heat (and in temperate regions allow the winter sun to heat a thermal mass).

Is there no forum or place where the design is being discussed?
