Okra oxalates

Anyone know if there are oxalates in the Okra mucilage?  I wanted to try Okra water to possibly avoid it if it is mostly in the Okra pod skin. It's a shame since I wanted to get the full benefits of okra but I worry about oxalates for my kidneys.  Thanks!

If this is something I wanted to reduce in oxalates I would ferment the okra.

This is a really great tip!  But lets say fermenting isn’t an option here… I wonder how much the slime contains.

If fermenting is not an option then I would try soaking in water that is changed several times.

Oxalic acid is water soluble, so cook the okra in water, discard the water, and eat the okra. I don't know how much of the oxalic acid comes out in the water. It seems to be food specific. I know cooking high oxalate greens like spinach and Swiss chard in water can get rid of significant amounts of oxalic acid, though.
