What's up with my cabbages

Hi all. Love this site and learning so much. Huge thanks to Paul and everyone. I have only posted once before about beavers being reintroduced to England. Anyway I have a question. My cabbages have grown really  tall on long stalks  about 12 inches high and heads are just starting to form heads. The stalks are quite strong  but should I stake them? I worried  they will break as the heads get heavier. I have never grown cabbages before. Thank you x

I think it depends on the type of cabbage. Some form smaller heads than others. And some, like brussel sprouts naturally grow on long tall stalks.

Usually if mine end up growing tall stalks before forming the head, the heads don't get very big. But if they do get big, sometimes they'll fall over and uproot. I've never bothered staking them but that might be a good idea.
