I have noticed lots of sag and pooling of water when I have tarped structures in the past. Instead of adding wood or metal support I was considering ziptying snow fencing tautly across the frame.
In addition to providing support, I was hoping I could grow a vine that could not normally over winter in 6a, thus getting shade in the summer and letting sun through in the winter.
Does any of this seem flawed? Any suggestions on vines?
Here in Alaska, I've seen this done and it will work. Large metal mesh will also work if too much shading is an issue(with us up here, it sometimes is). Good luck and good growing
Thanks for the encouraging news! I went ahead and tried this on my in-law's car port, which gets new tarps every year, and usually collapses under snow or even rain. So far, very good! For mine, I think I will stretch chain link fencing, thanks for that idea!
