Growing rooibos plant (Aspalathus linearis) in North America?

The rooibos plant, Aspalathus linearis, is a member of the legume family, and grows in South Africa where it was a popular tea, until, I'm told, much of it started being exported to North America.

PFAS made it sound as it might be possible to grow it in North America, so I thought I'd ask my favourite permies if any of you know if it's being grown here, and where, and how successfully.

As a tea, it checks a number of my boxes, although apparently it lowers blood pressure, which is why my body only likes it occasionally.

I was thinking to grow it myself, my climate could be similar, but I read that it was a failure to cultivate it out of its native region due to lack of symbiotic fungus (or bacteria). Maybe it's still possible.
