A very old wooden house (50m2 or 538 sq.ft) I have on my land has beautiful wooden floors. I was thinking about building a metal bench with multiple "legs" , covered with metal grate (see image), and try to build a firebrick construction on top of it. I'm aware that I would have to include a layer of sheet metal under feed tube/fire pit for basic fire protection, my question is does it makes sense at all? If yes, can you point me to any specific information/design for such RMH?

Richard Gorny : My post is just to say that Ernie and Erica have a set of plans that will do everything you think you want and leave you with a potential showpiece !
This question should be left for them, There are a lot of Rocket Mass Heater Builders who finish off with a Thermal Mass, E & E create masterpieces ! Big AL !

Thanks Allen, I'm looking forward to hear from them and I will surely invest in their plans if they will say it fits my needs. I'm waiting for 4 DVD set delivery as well, so hopefully I will get some knowledge desperately needed soon

Richard Gorny :last news to share on E & E's DVD is still 5-7 weeks out !?!! I expected one of them to jump in on your post to give you more information but
I know they are very busy right now you could go to their site ernieanderica.info and check out their pictures of build types, it is a 8'' model and fits
in a bay window. If you look you can see a whole row frocks set into the base of the bench with the individual air limits looking like dimples in the surface,

As you can see this is a very well thought out and executed build, and truly is a show piece, Y.M.M.V., but that is the basic idea ! Remember its the squeaky
wheel that gets the grease !

Think like fire, Flow like a Gas, Don't be the Marshmallow !
