Hoards of brown Butterflies/Moths heading north?

For the last two days we have had millions of brown butterflies or Moths that are heading north.

It seems to be the wrong time of year for this.

Have you seen them?

Maybe “miller” moths flying back to the plains from a summer in the mountains?
