We are chuckling....yes, we have some...we will go take a walk this afternoon to see what we can find. We also have a huge pile from cleaning up a very large honey locust...very thorny but branches have been cut awhile. Sprouts all over but none woody yet. We leavethem in hedgier more grown up places along with plum and persimmon and sumac so they show up pretty easily.
When do you need them? How big/long/fresh?

I like them fresh. I think the really long thorns are pretty. I prefer twigs. I once I had a honey locust twig that was me centerpiece for decorating my bathroom. I also remember an art project in rivers and tides featuring bracken and honey locust thorns.

We finally took that walk this morning...here is what we have...lots of young honey locust with twiggy branches that have 1 to 2 inch single thorns along their length. Several large trees with those crazy clusters of thorns up the trunk. A box of twigs would be easy. Maybe could remove a thorn cluster from a trunk? Leaves or leafless?

The really cool thing though, is we found quite a few smooth chanterelles while out wandering...we haven't had a wet summer in years...so this is a real treat!!!

I like the idea of the three inch long thorns. It's the majestic thorns I would like to have a pile of. I cannot help but think they would have all sorts of uses on any homestead.
