accidental discovery here. I toss food scraps into the rows of my garden, and half a watermelon rind landed cup side up. It filled with rain at some point, and snails just crawled in and drowned themselves. I didn't mind.

Interesting! I can't do this yet, since I'm balcony gardening, but could one catch snails to eat this way? Or would them being already dead mean they won't work in snail soup? Like do they need to go into the pot alive?

snails are pretty slow, I'd catch 'em fresh if I were planning to cook. These ones are not good to eat as far as I know. be sure that the variety of snails you have around is safe to eat!
