I remember that with the old software, people wanted avatars so much that they found a way to put a tiny picture in their signature. Which seemed to work out great because it seemed that it was pretty women putting a simple picture of themselves.
But I've been to sites where the avatars were gut-wrenching-ly obnoxious.
And it seems that the staff out at CodeRanch (the bit fondlers of this forum software) are not keen on avatars either.
Therefore the problem is two-fold: management (how to filter out the icky) plus programmatic (adding the software to support the feature).
Keep in mind, the only picture I have seen of Dale is of his bare torso when he was suggesting that we have a calendar of sexy pictures. So I am thinking of the conversation where dale says "why not?" and the hundred other people that get angry that their avatar is rejected and also say "why not?" Somehow it just seems like a job.
Maybe the thing to do is to somehow route it through the staff kinda like how we currently do name changes. That could work.
