Hello everyone,

Do you know of a simple method for shucking Job's Tears? I've read they can be roasted like coffee...I have a nice crop, but cracking open a few thousand seeds by hand, well, no thanks.

I read also to just put them in a bag and hammer softly, if there is such a thing.

Perhaps the shell can be roasted?

Please share your experience.

Thank you...

If anyone is interested:

Soak seeds for 8 hours in water
Blend with 10 parts water to 1 part seeds
Drain through a cloth
Let dry

This process yields a flour.

Erich, Sounds like you tried it?

How does it yield a flour? Do they desolve into a paste and then dry to a flour or do you have to do something else?

Yes, it dissolves into a pasty/flour like stuff. I'm not sure my nouns and verbs are exactly right (dissolve, dry, flour, paste, evaporate???) and the process could be refined. I was a bit careless about it bc I just wanted to see if it works. I could blend better. I could let the blended broth sit longer and wring it out a bit more.

Also, I just used 1 cup of seeds. Not sure how to handle 20 kg.
