Rocket Stove without the mass

Can you have a rocket stove without the mass. I was thinking of building one in my cellar workshop, and basically letting the exhaust run through the workshop, but just letting it heat the air which can warm the floor above. I realise it might not capture heat as effectively, but I can't think why it wouldn't burn as efficiently.

Of course you can have a rocket heater without any mass. The combustion system is one thing; how the heat is stored (or not) is another.

Dave, maybe I read it wrong. Will the exhaust be contained in pipe and vented outside?

Is it just me or is the shameless advertising for the Stoves 2.0 website on every single forum getting annoying?

Yes long outlet to exterior. I wanted to design it so the initial exhaust pipe went near area that needed to be hottest and warmed air which would convect upstairs. The exhaust would then heat our indoor chick raising area before passing brewing section and finally along wall and out.
