Hello,

I am a Southern California small town guy who has been learning about permaculture for the past year or so and I just wanted to reach out and say hi.

I keyed into Permies from somewhere. I think I learned about hügelkultur from a friend and after searching online found Paul's richsoil article on it. From there I found the podcasts and have been hooked ever since.

I can really appreciate Paul's tone and general attitude with everything. He genuinely struck a chord somewhere deep and it has caused a shift in my thinking where nothing else has.

I really get a kick out of the fact the he is known as the "bad boy".

After attending a foodscaping talk at a local nursery I have been laying down the framework for a food forest to start building my track record and haven't looked back since.

I am planning to stayat my rented duplex for sometime while I get my systems down. My landlord is cool enough except they won't let me have chickens but maybe they'll give in with enough persistence.

I would like to develope a plan to move onto a farm within 5 to 8 years, any advice or recommendations will be graciously accepted.

Thanks again,

Josh

Josh - welcome to permies! Looks like you've started some great experiments already! Keep on going - this is an awesome way to learn.
