Want to hang out some extra days with Paul and Jocelyn before or after the Permaculture Voices Conference March 13-16, 2014?

Julia has rented a huge view home on the hill for 20 people to stay at during the conference [insert round of applause to Julia for this here!]. The house is currently full, with a waiting list--for more info see the Permaculture Voices Housing thread (note that there are four pages to this thread).

Most people are staying March 12- 17. This is when the house is full.

Paul and Jocelyn will be staying March 9-19. We asked Julia to rent it longer and Paul is paying for these extra days.

Here's the extra time frames and the amount to pitch in toward the rental cost. You'd have your pick of bedroom/bed choices (e.g., there is a master bedroom on each of the three floors).

  • March 9-12 - $200 per bed for these 4 days and 3 nights
  • March 17-19 - $150 per bed for these 2-3 days and 2 nights

  • Post here or pm Jocelyn to discuss.

(EDITED 01/02/14: for date stuff and amounts.)

By the way, Paul and Jocelyn would be happy to share airport transportation these times:

    Sunday, Mar. 9 - arrive Los Angeles/LAX, 10:45 a.m. 10:44 a.m.
    Wednesday, Mar. 19 - depart Los Angeles/LAX 1:10 p.m. 1:00 p.m.

    Edited for minor flight changes.

I just thought it would be nice to spend some goofing off time in a warmer climate. Maybe get some sun. Maybe go to the beach. Maybe spend some time in a boat. Maybe see some cool permie stuff.

Surely we are not the only people thinking that as long as we are in the area it would be good to spend some vacation-ish time there too.

I would LOVE to spend more time in the sun, but sadly, I can't get that many days off from work. Still, the house is really nice. Look at more pictures here:

The pictures of this place (at that link you posted) do look stunning, Julia.

Nice! Just let me know. We have one or two interested so far, which means you might not be stuck with just Paul and myself.

I thought I would throw this out there for folks looking to get some beach action in after the conference-

Mon-Fri after the conference I have a campsite reserved at San Elijo State Beach in Encinitas, and would be happy to host a BBQ or whatnot. It's a lovely beach, about 10 miles south of Oceanside, definitely worth the slightly longer drive. All in all, it's about 40 minutes from Temecula. Just putting it out there, if people are interested in some sun, sand, and bbq.

Is there still availability in the house DURING the conference? Or is it just about the days before and after here?

This thread is just about the before and after.

My impression is that for during the conference, the house is sold out. But I suppose you could go to the link above and ask to be on a waiting list. I think there was even listed at least one alternative.

Yes, the house is full. There is another thread where people are scheming to share space during the conference, and I saw some options on AirBnB back in December when I was looking there.

Just checking in, wondering if there is still availability before/after the conference. I have confirmed that I will be there, now it's just a matter of making the arrangements...

Hello..I know this is a longshot.just curious if there is any availability at the permies house floor ,camping whatever...sure its full, but just found out I was able to go...Seems as though there are lots of cooks already ,I am handy in the kitchen as well ,especially breakfast,I also work at trader Joes and can get a 10% discount on food whether there is room or not ,just let me know
I"ll most likely wind up camping at one of the campsites near other permies....ill take any info on that as well if you have suggestions.
    Still have not booked flight.
    Very excited to be attending!

The big permies house is full for the 5 main days of the conference and the contract stipulates no more than 20 people in residence: it's about the septic system, not the number of beds. There is a discussion of camping but also sharing some other rental here: https://permies.com/t/30603/southwest-usa/Permaculture-Voices-Camping-Resource-Planning

If you look at pages 4 and 5 of this thread there are people getting together to share housing: https://permies.com/forums/posts/list/120/30282

It might be a good idea to start your own thread. Also, harvest the user names of others seeking lodging and send them purple mooseages. You just need to get together with a few other people to save big over a hotel.

I won't have solid set in stone plans until Friday, but I was thinking about staying out there a few extra days. My nieces first birthday party is on the 8th so the pre-event space is less likely but I am interested.

When/how do we get the $150 to you if we are staying after? Is that something I can pay for once at the event?

Hi J.D. - are you interested in space before ~3/9 to 3/12? Yes, there is still room. I'm currently counting 5 being in the house early. $150 payment via PayPal goes to paul AT richsoil DOT com.

Hi Chad - yes, I think there is still room after. Julia said most people are leaving the morning of the 17th, with 5 of us staying on, and 3 newbies arriving just for those "after" days 3/17-3/19. You'd be number 9. I think it would be highly unlikely that more than 10 (more) will be staying past 3/17.

    Jocelyn,

Unfortunately I am not arriving in Temecula until the 12th. I also am going to be heading out on the 17th to meet up with some students from Texas A&M that I've led on caving trips here in TN during their annual class trip. Hopefully we can all still meet up somewhere along the way!
