TOLERANCE is what people scream when they can't/don't want to hold the conversation with those with different views. It is the same as calling a republican a racist for not liking Obama.

The worst part is it is usually projecting--those screaming it loudest are the worst about it themselves.

Telling someone else to be tolerant just proves your own intolerance!

Penn is great. I'd like to have him and Hitchens over for a good yak. That can't happen. I guess I'll have to visit them on YouTube.

The problem with tolerance, besides making you look like a push over, is that eventually it isn't good enough and you're pushed to be an advocate. I've seen this happen with gay rights and abortion. They get some old curmudgeon to agree to live and let live and everybody goes home satisfied. Give it a year and the same guy is vilified for not joining a march.

If you are for something, say so, if not say so. Then dig your heels in and don't go soft. It's OK to change your mind. It's not OK to be informed that you've changed your mind.
