Hi,
The things I hope to do:
Build a natural pond
Build a root cellar
Grow & can enough food to last all year - so we would only need to purchase meat and incidentals
Aquaponics? just started getting into this
Solar & wind energy
Raise chickens & their food
Cow or goat for milk & cheese?
etc
I am just dying to get my hands dirty DO stuff, you know. Like right now. All I can do is read and read and read, which is what I have been doing for the last couple years. I also turned my city backyard into a cornfield last year (the neighbors thought i was weird) and tried my hand at canning (very satisfying). This year I have 100 tomato plants started from seed with a sneaking suspicion they are not all going to fit where i want them to. If I had more room I would include corn, peas, 3 different kinds of potatoes, onions, garlic, various greens, cucumbers, dill, squash, pumpkins, watermelon, stawberries, blueberries, black berries...and more.
Anyway, I see clearly how everything fits together and its so frustrating that I cant do anything here. I grew up in Sacramento, CA and BOY is that a case of "you dont know what you have until its gone". Boy howdy do i wish i could figure out a way to finaggle my way back there! Winters here in MN arent even the worst part...the summer humidity IS KILLING ME. And the growing season is so short. Wouldnt it be great to be able to garden year round? Or close to it?
So I figure, summer's here. Maybe I should just take off to parts unknown.
Stats:
30 years old
Female
3 children 12, 13, 14 (yes they would be there)
No pets
Dont smoke or drink
Clean background
Driver's License & newer car
Moderate monthly income (yes can take care of myself + contribute)
Looking for:
Warm, dry climate with LOW HUMIDITY (Even the desert is okay with me! Lets green it!?)
Like-minded people (do you have some of these same ideas? Lets talk!)
Space to stay and eventually build -would want option to stay after summer if we liked it.
I have tons of ideas and am ready to commit this summer to making things happen! Please contact me if you are interested. I would be coming out around beginning of June. I know this is late in warm climates, but sadly its the beginning of the growing season here. Do you feel my pain??
Shannon
