I may have missed when this was done or mentioned.

I imagine knowing how old the post is, if it is not current, will really help temper expectations for those looking at the invitations.

At the top of each post, it says how old it is.  You can customize how this shows up with pie.

The thread list can be customized in desktop view too

Most of the topics on permies are perennial, so reviving those threads make no difference.   The forums are set up for this style of communication.  

When dealing with transitory topics, it pays to look at the date on the posts.
