OK, just letting everyone know, I've joined zillions of others and can now shop online with a pre-paid debit card!!!  Hey it even worked yesterday here at Permies, buying the 2 pack of playing cards.  The card is One Pay, backed by Mastercard, which I got at the big W store, the cost is only a $1.00 and adding more money to the balance is free.  I've used the card 6 or 7 times so far and it has worked everywhere with no problems.  You can add to your balance at the self check out also, swipe the card, enter the amount and you're ready to roll

Just wanted to share this with you.

Peace

What is the advantage of a prepaid debit card vs a regular credit card?

Does it build your credit score or what?

Anne, as I have a number of trust issues, one being protecting my money, I don't have credit cards and I will not use a debit card from any of my bank accounts.  I did have someone I ordered things off the net, giving her the cash, but she started fading a little, so I tried this prepaid thing.
I guess it is just a security issue for me.  I'm unsure if it helps in building credit scores.  My thing is that if hacked I can only lose how much I load onto the card.

Peace

I can understand trust issue though debit cards are good for people who cannot control their spending, like a shopaholic.

Credit card are safer than a prepaid debit card.

Credit cards are also safer than other payment cards because you have dispute rights that cover many problems. This is especially important when you shop online. It can also help with in-person shopping when, for example, there’s an error with your purchase. So if a company charges you twice, charges the wrong price, bills you for something you never got, or if you get a wrong or damaged item, you can dispute the charge with your credit card company and possibly get your money back.
