I live in Vermont zone 4B and want to replace an overgrown, ugly arbor vitae hedge with something more attractive — preferably native and beneficial. Ideally deer resistant. Would like it to be evergreen and 5-8’ tall to provide some privacy for our yard.

Suggestions?

Around here, people call Thuja occidentalis, Northern White-Cedar or Arborvitae. Is that the same plant you want to get rid of?

And they seem attractive to me, so what is it you're looking for?
