How often can you cut comfrey?How close to the ground do you cut it?

I cut mine as soon as the bees have finished with the flowers on each stalk. Once the flowers dry up, I cut the stalk to the ground. Actually I usually just pull them from the crown. Half of the material is dropped there, and the other half is fed to animals. I have it planted around all of my fruit trees. Comfrey seems to put up with a lot of abuse.

4-5x per year depending on the length of the growing season. You can cut it right to ground level.
