Growing desert cacti in high humidity

Does anyone have experience growing desert cacti in humid environments? I am moving from New Mexico to Florida soon and I'm concerned about the high humidity and root rot. I will be using a clay pot to mitigate water retention, fast-draining soil, and keeping it inside in the AC. This is a cactus that is native to the southwest & Mexico (abbreviations LW). Any recommendations are appreciated! Thank you

Use more sand in the mix and try to keep them out of the rain.

A couple of techniques used in cold climates to overwinter cacti include planting them under tents/sheds, and using soil that drains quickly.

In my own cactus garden, I laid down 8" of lava/pumice, and covered it with 8" of 70:30 sand:compost.
