Can an old unused drilled well improve with use?

I write about our new pump for this well HERE
I wanted to ask this question in its own thread though.

We have just this week installed a sprinkler pump with a pipe reaching 15' into the water (10' from pump to water surface).
The pump pulls up water faster than the well can replenish itself....so 12-15 gallons at a time.
We are working around this and filling barrels and running a hose where I water, wait an hour, water some more, etc.

I am noticing that the output has increased to close to 20 gallons every hour.

I doubt the well will ever catch up to this pumps gpm draw but wondered if just using a lot of water every day will cause it to replenish faster as it seems to be doing?

I know the well plumbed this house back in the fifties for the toilet, sinks, baths and gardens, not washing machine or drinking and cooking since it has a lot of iron.

Of course, there are many variables in play here. But, it is possible, and why not try.do remember in the 1950s baths were often weekly, children often shared the same bath water and automatic washing machines were as common as unicorns….dishwashers less so.

I think this town got municipal water in the sixties so the well was used for more than a decade for a couple and their child. I'm sure like you mention water use was minimal..
We once stayed in a house where 4 people flushing the toilet too quickly in a row ran the well dry.

This area is 25" behind on rainfall...50" is our usual yearly amount so we are happy with any extra  from this well....and the water is so nice and cold.

Why Flow volume may not improve with a well;
- A well can only produce as much water as the surrounding geological formation (the aquifer) can naturally supply and recharge.
- Pumping water draws minerals and fine particles toward the pump intake, which can block the perforations or screen over time.
