Interesting, most of the biochar studies I've seen are on sandy or degraded soils so good to see results from a different context. I'd be curious whether the effect holds past the first few seasons or if it tapers off as the char charges up.

I have clay soil.  Biochar helps it to drain better, while still retaining lots of moisture, nutrients and life.  Several of my trees have made huge jumps in size, quality and production after I biocharred them.
