Travis Johnson wrote:I live in Maine and this year I am still waiting for winter to come. The ground is not even frozen, and we have yet to get any snow. It is Feb and we have not got either cold nor snow...

This is the same weather pattern we had in 1994, and back in 1907 too; kind of odd, but it happens.

My goodness... NO WINTER! This winter was pretty brutal in Ohio where I am. But then I'm really not a fan! LOL

Zone 9/10 here in Eastern Spain 🇪🇸 and Spring is well underway in my little food forest!  Luckily, we also have rain (which should refill the aquifers), so I'm planting and water harvesting a lot!

Thaw is almost done, and Winterling (Eranthis hyemalis) is blooming here in Sherwood Forest. Daily highs crossing 50 now and then. From here, the Awakening will accelerate. Soon, the buds on the native Blue Elders will be fattening...

Crocus and snowdrops today--the first flowers! Yesterday I saw some snowdrops too--it was odd since they were at a much higher elevation, up in the mountains. Probably stronger because of the better soil. And finally the ground here in the valley is thawed out. I started sowing spinach and cover crops with all the warm weather, and a strong south wind makes me think rain is coming.

Your writing is so poetic. Beautiful images in my mind.
