As a local here in Cherry Plain, on the MA/NY/VT border, across route 22 from the Beer Diviner, and East Coast Village, my only question is, are you all still sacrificing animals and calling the kontumble spirits (as advertised on your website.and admitted to the Eastwick Press in the 13 Barbies found on Bly Hollow Road story? ) LOL. Not sure how that type of activity fits into "permaculture."

Does it count if we only "summer" in Upstate? We have a cabin in Redfield, NY just north of the center of Line Brook State Forest. It's an off grid experimentation ground, I've only just started planting, but there are tons of wild plants ranging from medicinal/berries/mushrooms/nuts in abundance.

yes there are garden farm stores here that are open still

Northampton here, just above the Great Sacandaga Lake - wondering if anyone else in the region has been noticing that our weather patterns have gone wacky the past several years!!  Makes me long for Tennessee...

Hi! I am originally from Oneida, NY; went to college in Utica (Utica College of Syracuse U) and now live in western NY, just south of Buffalo. The Adirondacks are a favorite place of mine, followed by the Finger Lakes.

Hey y'all, hoping to get conversation flowing in this thread with folks around the Ithaca area. My family and I are about to close on 3 acres in Danby. It's on a gentle slope, has quite a bit of trees, and a flat spot up top that gets lots of sun. We'll be clearing trees for the homesite in April/May; hoping to save as much of the trees we can for firewood and future timber framing projects. Does anyone have experience with clearing a site of trees & stumps? I've cut trees in the past, but never on this scale, and would love some help (physical or just advice) from someone who has done it. Thanks!

Hi Taylor!

We're settling into our land in Ithaca, and absolutely loving it here. The community in our neighborhood has been the most supportive and friendly group of folks we've met just about anywhere. This year is a big one for us as we'll be building our main house and setting up our gardens; we would love help from folks like yourselves who have much more permaculture experience than we do! And we highly recommend Ithaca, especially our little spot just south of town in Danby. Lots of workable land, friendly and welcoming community, close enough to town (10 minutes) for amenities you might need yet also quiet and peaceful.

Hi Mike, I live in Little Falls, NY. I finally got a small piece of land in 2020 just as the lock down started. I at last got to build my "she-shed" pyramid design, with a rocket mass heater to get thru our winters. Eventually I plan to build a tiny house here also. Glad to hear there is someone so close to home that loves permaculture. Would love to meet you in person & chat if you have the time & desire.❤️🙏❤️Khara
