Hello, I'm Anna. I will start off by saying I am a complete (enthusiastic!) newbie with no knowledge or training. 29 years old, not afraid of getting dirty or hard work. I'm strong and capable. I live in Atlanta, but am willing to travel an hour or so out.

I have this burning dream... it involves a small permaculture farm with some chickens and maybe a few other animals (goats, sheep perhaps) on the grounds of a small B&B in which I would run a very small farm-to-table restaurant for guests and locals. I'm ready to get started! First, I need to learn how to do everything. I do already know how to cook. I have no formal training, but I'm good. I am willing to cook in exchange for learning opportunities, as well. Maybe you bring me on as a cook, when I'm not cooking I can work in these other areas and you teach me in exchange for me cooking.

I am really interested in permaculture and am currently unemployed and am looking for an opportunity to get educated and get involved. I am new to Atlanta, and am relying on internet searches because I have no idea where to get started. I am looking for any opportunity at all- part time volunteering, even. I just want to get in there and learn! I am available immediately, and I'll do anything, as long as I am learning!

I have begun asking around about permaculture internship and certification programs, but haven't heard back.

Things I want to learn about:
- farming
- care of farm animals (chickens, goats, sheep, cows, pigs, etc etc)
- bees
- homesteading
- permaculture
- organic farming
- sustainable farming

... really, anything involving any of that!

Sorry this is kind of vague. I really don't know where to get started. I am unable to relocate at the moment, so it would have to be somewhere around Atlanta. If anyone knows of any opportunities or is willing to give me a chance, I promise to work so hard. Advice is also very welcome and appreciated. As you can see, I pretty much have no idea how to get started with any of this. I thought I'd just throw it out into the universe and see where it takes me. Thank you so much!

Welcome to permies Anna! On the Travel Ideas thread, I have listed several ways to get around, some places to look for finding work or volunteer stuff, and a few other interesting tid bits of information. The National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service has listings for internships and apprenticeships, and HelpX has a map showing opportunities.
