Hello everybody. I am new to permies and to sheep ownership. One of my ewes has a swollen tail and is passing loose stools. Could this be caused by worms? Thank you for your help!

That is a sign of a diet that is to rich for the animal. If you haven't already, get to your vet and read some of these great sheep sites for more information on the needs of sheep.

Rams horn studio

Diarrhea in sheep

sheep 101

sheep health

Merck Veterinary manual

Those should get you on the way to a good start.
