Durable plastic stuff in permaculture

I don't know where to put this. But probably drivel.

I know that at least as far back as the late 80s they had fairly tough, clear, corrugated plastic/fiberglass paneling. I know this because I can remember that far back. Thing is I haven't really seen an advanced version of that product on the market. Granted I haven't really been looking. But there has got to be a really tough, really clear, snap together snap back apart plastic sheeting out there. Does anyone know of any? Totally artificial I know but if its super tough and lasts for a 100 years I'd think it'd be a way better use of fossil energy than the current mass burning we continue to insist upon.
