Compost tea application and coverage rate

I have been applying 5-10 gallons compost tea/ worm tea to my garden. It is about a 1000 sq feet, and I am applying it at a rate of 1 part tea to 4 parts water. I am in Sonoma County California. I am new to compost tea, and I researched it a bit, and rates vary from site to site, and company.

What are others application rates? Have you noticed any benefit from doing a soil soak?

I try to syncronise my compost tea application with a rain event. I generally cut it about five to one and just sprinkle it on. Seems to be working for me but my conditions may be very different to yours.

What I do on the garden is very different than what I do in the orchard or pasture.

Garden is very similar to Rob, thin it about 2-4 to one (a quart or two of tea in a 5 liter watering can) and water it in before a rain or regular watering to wash it in. Just thinned down enough to make it go as far as I need it to that day.

For the orchard or pasture it gets thinned more like 20 to 1 so it will run through the electric sprayer without plugging up. and so the same small tea brewer can cover acres instead of square feet.

Thanks for your responses. We do not get a lot of rain here, but when it does I try to time it with the rain. How often do you both apply compost tea?

I apply it when I have time to make it, which is probably not the best time. But I figure any is better than none. Usually the brief lull in late spring after planting.
