Produces orange berries in the fall.

Some Cotoneaster species, a number of cultivars have orange berries.

I vote firethorn also. If so, it is in the rose family, edible, and makes an apple-like tart jelly.
If you can safely verify the plant as such, cut the flowers off now, for a sweeter second fruit in the fall!
