rotorvent makes all the difference & keep your rocket warm

I'm totally raving about my rocket stove. There was a big problem when no wind with a known cold air bubble which resulted in tremendous smoke in the room.
I put a rotorvent (dunno really what there name is in english ..) on the cheminy and now the Rocket works insanely good. I've been dancing about the house for 3 days with a big smile on my face.
Since the rotorvent I also have burned the Rocket several days in a row and it is really unbelievable it uses so little wood.
During the night I've covered the bench with a couple of woolen blankets and some sheep skins and I just about could touch the bench next morning/

Max, I remember you used an electric fan in your exhaust path and it helped. Did you try a rotorvent/turbine vent first?

is this a mythical perpetual motion machine that uses the exhaust flow to power itself into increasing the exhaust flow. I've never seen such a vent used or marketed so cant judge the device in question, but it reminds me of a scam product that is sold to motorists who are told they can enhance their engine intake airflow with it. Or is it powered by wind outside?

yeah i think wind helps becuz my neighbours have one on thier roof for attic vent and you can hear the bearings squeeling when it spins in the wind. i call them whirly birds.

Yes i did, but, since it was against a wall, it didn't work well at all, hence the electric fan.

Not at all. It is supposed to act a bit like an H cowl. If it's not windy, it doesn't turn with the exhaust gases. When the wind makes it turn, also pushing the gases back in the chimney, the downwind fins create a depression, counteracting the overpresure which could cause smokeback.

At least, this is how i understand it. Theses are pretty common in France.

Petra says she had a cold air bubble with no wind, and I wonder if the vent simply helped the warmish chimney air stay in the chimney instead of being replaced with cold outside air. An oversized chimney from an old fireplace would tend to have that problem.

What is your chimney like? How tall, and how big inside? What materials? Is it mostly inside or outside the house?

Warming the chimney thrue the stove with hot-air-fan, it's always the first thing to do in autumn when it's time to start warming. I don't have a RMH, but a quite big (2 m3) traditional stove, which have mostly the same idea than RMH.

This is an non electric driven fan. It sucks on the pipe and in my case it is just totally amazing. A tiny little draft makes the rotorvent spin and this apparently it prevents the pipe to hold air/cold bubble, which is my feeling developes when the air stays stagnant for a moment..
And yes there very common in France.
My chimney is 15cm/5.9 inches.

Anyway in my case this rotor thing made my rocket work like a charm !!
And I wish it can be the solution for others too, the only reason of this post.
