Not sure what the BBC is complaining about there are alot less slugs around here than this time last year probably due to all the cold spring weather.
Either way I am not taking any chances and will continue to trial anti slug measures until I get some ducks. Sadly most of the popular idea have a few flaws with them, like they dont work if its wet!
What has always worked well for me is encouraging carnivorous behavior in leopard slugs. I find all the slugs in my garden, place them in a 5 gallon bucket. Seal it so they can't get out but still breathe. Those that live a week are obvously carnivorous and get released.
