It never ceases to amaze me how nature continues to create habitat. Arctic foxes have been dubbed "ecosystem engineers."

I wonder if the same could happen in the deserts, with a little help of man.

Much desert has developed because of human activity, so I think human activity could restore those lands. Intact desert ecosystems probably don't need our intervention.
