How to learn something new every day
...how many of the articles you read, videos you watch, phone calls you make, words you say and podcasts you listen to, do you actually take action on?
I’ve been there. For years I kept reading blogs, listening to interviews and watching TED talks, without implementing what I’d learned.
The worst part? I felt really good about myself. After each article or video I’d sit in my room, feel really inspired, and have tons of new ideas.
This reminds me of what I was like a couple of years ago. I loved learning about things, but I wouldn't go out and try them because I was too busy learning the 'right' way to do it. It would turn out there wasn't enough information to discover the 'right' way to do something, so I didn't do it and besides, here's the next nifty idea I want to learn about.
Now I'm much more focused on learning only when the weather is poor. I spend most of the winter reading, and as soon as spring arrives, I'm out there trying new experiments. I like this much better than how I use to be.
I'm not sure how I feel about the rest of the article, but it's an interesting read. Might be one or two things worth trying in my life.
